Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I know you have everything in place to support me?
A. We have Disclosure  Checks, all relevant insurance and training in place. We are happy to show you copies of this information, so you know you are dealing with professionals.

Q. I like the idea of someone who I know working with me all the time, but I like the back up that a company can give. How reliable are you?
A. We are independent self employed Personal Assistants, not an agency or an organisation. We know that many companies can struggle to get you the same worker all the time, at the times when you want them. If you have support from one of us you know we will not be called away to someone else.

We get feedback from people that they want the same person and that is what you get from us. We are proud of our reliability, flexibility and person centred support. You can choose to contract with another member of AMS or someone else if you need holiday cover or additional hours, the choice is up to you. That is something you need to arrange, we don't set up arrangements for cover as we are all separate individuals.

Q. If you are all individuals, why do you share a website?
A. When we all set up as Self Employed Personal Assistants several years ago, we knew it was a lot of work and so we shared a website to save costs and so we could be there for each other. Since then all three of us have joined the North East Scotland  Support and Wellbeing Cooperative and people understand more about what we do.
Being a bit different can confuse some people but we think what we do works and people are really happy with the support each of us offers. So we are happy to be different!

Q.
Do you need to be registered with the Care Inspectorate?
A. Because we aren't an Agency or an organisation, we are not providing our support in a way that is registered with them. We know this because we asked then when we first set up, and have had another meeting with them to talk about it in June 2023.
Both times it was confirmed that we don't have to register, and below is the letter they sent confirming it.
